“I did, for a while. But I’m back now.”

“I’ve missed it here, and you.”

Jehan smiled back at her, for a moment speechless and frozen in his spot, but his fingers twisted the hem of his shirt. He looked at her, looking over her, examining and drinking her in, she was the embodiment of spring, in skin, in scent, in warmth.

‘Bonjour.. Ca va?’

He was youth, and joy and love and romance, as well as his own hidden darkness. She had watched him from Olympus and had enjoyed what she saw. There had always been a soft spot in her heart for cultivators of her works.

“Bon. And how are you, my dear poet?”

theharvestmother replied to your post: Hello dear.
How are you, my friend? I’ve missed you terribly. ((Ditto for me!!!))

(His immediate response is a weakening in his facade that turns his smile almost into a grimace) I’m well. (He says it indifferently like his state of being doesn’t matter - because it doesn’t to him) Though I would be lying if I said I’ve not been missing you also.

[She frowns slightly. It is like Loki to lie to her about his well-being, just as she often does to keep people from worrying. But that does not make it easier to let go.] Tell me. What have I missed in your life?

Éponine furrowed her brow, confused: she was sure she’d never seen this woman in her life, yet she spoke as if they were old friends. “How’s it you know my name, madame? We ain’t met before, I know it. I’d remember your face, I would.”

“You may not know me, but I know you. I have since you were but a baby. My name is Demeter, and it’s a pleasure to finally meet you face to face.” She considered the humans a close second to her children. They were not her creations, but her family’s creations, and she felt obligated to guard them just as she felt obligated to her natural divinity.

“Demeter. How may I help you, dear?”

“Just passing through, Selene, thank you. How do you fare?”

“I am well. And how are you?”

“Keeping very busy, as per usual. Getting ready to transition the seasons. It won’t be too much longer now, until spring.”

She kissed his forehead once more and rubbed his arms, taking a good look at him. “You are still as handsome as ever, my dear one. Still my beautiful son, the light of my life.” She grasped his hand in hers and pressed her lips to his knuckles before leading him to a bed. “Rest now, dear one. I will stay here by your side and be here when you wake.”

Iacchos smiled a bit more. “You have to say that”, he said, a bit childishly. “You are my mother.” Iacchos kissed his mother’s cheek and then allowed her to lead him to sleep. The god crawled into the bed and pulled the covers over himself. “Thank-you, mum”, he said, dropping the formality for the first time in a long time and smiled up at her. “I love you.”

Demeter chuckled and shook her head, smoothing the covers over him as she once had done when he was small. “I love you too, my dear one.” She leaned down to kiss his forehead and carded her fingers through his hair. “Sleep well, Iacchos.” She smiled softly and began to hum a lullaby, something simple and sweet, and very old.

iacchos:

theharvestmother:

“That is normal, dear one, for mortals. Do not be afraid. When you rest the feeling will go away.” She held him close, cupping his cheek to pick his head up. Her smile was warm, reserved for her loved one. A quick kiss was placed on his forehead. “I will stay as long as you need, of course.”

Iacchos smiled faintly back at his mother. He’d gotten himself food earlier when the pain in his stomach became too much to bare and he realised it was hunger. But now he was tired and he knew that meant sleep, but he certainly didn’t want to sleep. “Thank-you mother”, he said softly.

She kissed his forehead once more and rubbed his arms, taking a good look at him. “You are still as handsome as ever, my dear one. Still my beautiful son, the light of my life.” She grasped his hand in hers and pressed her lips to his knuckles before leading him to a bed. “Rest now, dear one. theharvestmother replied to your post: “Hello, my dear one.” And without another word she…

“I know, dearest, I know. It’s alright, shhh, you’re safe, my love.” She stroked her hand through her son’s hair, with a mother’s care and concern. “I’m here now, my dear one.”

“Mother, I feel tired…”, he said, sounding a bit confused and a bit embarrassed. He felt so vulnerable and exposed. “Can you stay with me, Mother?” He asked, sounding a bit scared.

She knelt down to his eye level, a bright smile on her face. “Tell me, little one. What did my boy do today?”

Iacchos smiled brightly at his mother. “Today I played that I was Perseus and I defeated the Kraken”, he exclaimed proudly. “It didn’t stand a chance.”

She laughed and kissed his forehead. “My strong, brave boy. Of course you defeated that monster. Thank you for keeping us safe. You did very well.”

Iacchos smiled brightly up at his mother. He knew he was always safe with her no matter where they were, even if his daddy wasn’t ever there. “I know mommy”, he said smiling. “You’re the bestest. But I still got worried.” Iacchos held a little tighter to his mother. “Mommy wanna know what I did today?”

She knelt down to his eye level, a bright smile on her face. “Tell me, little one. What did my boy do today?”
